Heidi, I knew you were special from the moment I laid eyes on you. I watched you grow from a chubby, carsick puppy to a confident, strong adult. You were rowdy, fiercely independent, vocal, and mischievous. You were also loyal, loving, protective, and clever. Seeing the spark of intelligence behind your bright eyes never failed to improve my day. I've never met a dog with such an expressive personality, which makes your loss all the more painful. There will never be another you. You graced us with almost 13 years of your presence, but time has a way of slipping by too quickly. The pitter-patter of paws on the hardwood floor is gone. The silence in the house is deafening. We both sat outside and watched the stars not too long ago. I think you knew then that the time was near. The stars in the night sky will be a bit dimmer now in your absence. Friend, family member, and faithful companion. Thank you for your friendship. You are sincerely loved, forever and always, and you will be bitterly, bitterly missed.
