Cover for Ian Hardy's Obituary

Ian Hardy

d. Aug 24, 2026

Ian was the best kitty ever, I got him when I was 11 (I’m 19 now) and he was the best little friend I could’ve asked for. He grew up with me and he got me through some really really tough times. He could cheer me up just by slowly blinking at me, but he did more than that, he would meow at me and rub his head against my body and then he’d lay down next to me. He knew my bedroom was his and he slept in my arms almost every night. Wherever I was in the house my baby boy was nearby, if I was making coffee he was sitting by the fridge waiting for his turn to get some milk (half and half was his favorite), if I was on the porch he was too, if I was in the bathroom he was right outside the door (although sometimes he came in and sat on my lap while I used the bathroom or sat on my bath mat as I showered). I went to the college near my house and commuted from home last year for my freshman year because I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go yet, this year I transferred to App State and as soon as I moved in I missed my kitty boy. I put his photos all around my room and would FaceTime my family and get to just stare at eenie and talk to him for a while. Last weekend I went home because I missed him (and my family) so much, little did I know that that would be the last time I saw my Ian. We got one more night snuggled up together and he was by my side as soon as I walked onto the porch and said “Ian”, he looked up at me with the biggest eyes and ran over to me. That moment made me so excited for all the future times I’d go home because I knew my boy would be excited to see me, little did I know it would be the first and last time. I’m glad I got that extra year at home with him last year and I really wish I stayed home another so we could’ve had even more time. I hate that I wasn’t there when he took his last unexpected breath and I hope he doesn’t hate me for that because I really really hate myself for that. Everything about him was perfect and I’ll miss him for the rest of my life until we are reunited again. Ian baby I love you so so much and I hate that you’re gone when you had so much more life to live. I wish you could’ve moved into my apartment next year, i wish you could’ve seen me graduate college, seen my future wedding dress, see our future house, and maybe even my future babies. I will talk about you to anyone who will listen and I love you so so much my baby. I’ll forever miss you and you’ll forever be my sweet baby boy.
