Layla Martucci

Yesterday we lost our baby Layla after over 11 years. She left this world the same way she came into it, on her own terms. Layla was unapologetically herself, and that is what made her so special. Whether she was wiggling her whole body to say hello, sprinting laps in the rain, or "running the jailyard" (as Matt liked to say), always making sure she was in charge, she loved hard and always meant well. The grief that comes with a loss is such an interesting thing, the mix of emotions that comes in waves. The sadness of missing their physical presence, the joy of remembering a favorite moment, the relief of knowing they are no longer in pain, and the guilt of wondering what you could have done differently. Through it all, we know she is at peace and will live on in our memories. Love you, Lay-Lays. We will miss you deeply. We hope you're getting plenty of cheesies, and please say hello to Winston for us. 😘🌈🐾
